Last Spring, I was halfway through my pregnancy, in
full nesting mode, and juggling a busy rotation schedule as a third year
medical student. I was determined to get everything ready for Noah's arrival,
preferably online. I was looking at Amazon (typical), scrolling through tons of
"natural" baby products but most of their ingredient lists seemed a
little suspicious for my comfort. Babies have such sensitive, absorptive skin
and I didn't want to pollute his little body because it can have lasting
consequences.
I’ve been using Puracy products for almost a year and I love them so much that I reached out to them to create a giveaway (check out my Instagram to enter!) and a review of some products. I’ll share my thoughts on each one below! Have you used Puracy products? What do you think?
Natural Baby Shampoo & Body Wash
A baby's first bath at home is really special. And so is every bath after that. I love bath time because it can be fun and relaxing at the same time! My favorite bath memories were when Noah was 5 months old and he first started reaching out for the stream of water. He was mesmerized but not nearly as mesmerized as I was with him. The shampoo and body wash has evolved with Noah, now gives him fun bubbles to play with – the bubbles will build slowly, give them some time. When he tries to inevitably eat the bubbles I feel confident in knowing that it won’t harm him at all. The soap itself is mild and conditions his skin gently. It’s also tear free, which we love. I also have to share that I used this soap as face wash during all of my interview travels so I only had to pack one carryon bottle. I know it’s not a conventional use of the baby shampoo but it worked for my skin, never broke me out, and was #efficientmom approved!
Organic Baby Lotion:
We really wanted to establish a bedtime routine with Noah
pretty early on. Along with a bath, Noah has gotten a lotion massage every
night since about 6 weeks and it’s become an established sleep association for
him. I waited until 6 weeks to start using lotion given the sensitive,
absorptive nature of infant skin and wanted to avoid irritation or rashes.
Bringing Noah into the dry, hot heat of Southern Arizona meant keeping his skin
moisturized was a huge priority. It kept his skin soft and nourished through
winter, while traveling the country during interview season, and into the
spring. When we moved to coastal Virginia earlier this month, I was so happy to see that he () is a
wonderfully creamy lotion that moisturizes in dry environments but isn’t too
thick in super humid weather (my glasses get foggy when I walk outside,
really). I also want to mention the calming lavender and chamomile touches in
the lotion. When Noah smells it he relaxes and is ready for his bedtime
massage!
Natural Dish Soap:
What is more important than what your baby is eating and
taking into their little bodies? Not much. For this reason, making sure I
wasn’t exposing him to any residual toxins while washing my pump supplies, his
bottles, pacifiers, and his plates. I experimented with one other popular
natural product and found that it was too strongly scented. Since I loved the Puracy
baby lotion & baby shampoo I decided to try the dish soap as well. I was so
pleased with the simple ingredients, how mild it is, and its cleaning power. I
trust it to clean my pump supplies – a pumping mama’s lifeline! – without
putting my baby at risk, Noah’s bottles, and even use it to wash my hands. It's
a green tea & lime formulation, but is not strongly scented at all. It also
forms pretty good suds!
Natural Enzyme Stain Remover:
Any parent of an infant (or child in general) knows how
messy they are. Right now, Noah loves to play with his food and experience
different textures and tastes! And we are all about letting him enjoy that rich
sensory experience. That also means that the food all over his face and hands
finds its way onto his shirt, shorts, surrounding objects, our dog haha. I had
the opportunity to try the natural enzyme stain remover and I’m so glad I did. The first time I used
it I only let it sit for 15 minutes before throwing the clothes into the wash.
It lifted the stains just fine. But the second time, I followed the instructions
on the back more closely and left it for longer, this time 1 hour. As you can see from the
picture it lifted the stains from a very fun, peach-filled fathers day. I’ve
used it on a bunch of Noah’s stained clothes and lot it so far. It has a spray
dispenser that hits your target areas exactly. It doesn’t have any strong
smells and wipes clean off surfaces where you may have accidentally sprayed it
on.
Puracy Natural Bug
Spray
When we arrived at our new house, I was waiting for the
realtor to open the door when a large bug flew near my face. “Woah, is that a
wasp,” I asked? “No, those are our mosquitos, welcome to Norfolk!” chimed my
realtor. LOL. Back in Tucson, our mosquitos were really small and were almost
never an issue for me in my 26 years. Now, however, that’s not the case at all.
I was so glad I had this bug spray to try. One of the best things about this
spray is that it is 100% DEET free and contains 99.9% active ingredients (which
is the most out of any natural insect repellent). The botanical, food-grade,
plant and mineral based ingredients make this a product I feel very safe using
on the whole family. I’ve used it for
our many walks through high grass and trips to the park where there are lots,
and lots of bugs. I haven’t gotten bit once which I think is a win. It’s mild
and I hardly notice it when it’s on -
the key is to rub it in! Noah is so close to walking that he’ll be using this a
lot on our park treks too!
Natural Multi Surface Cleaner
I’ve never been a fan of commercial, heavy-duty surface
cleaners because of their ingredients. After all, these are the surfaces we
live, eat, and work on so why must they be covered in toxins to be considered
clean? Formulated with biodegradable, plant-based ingredients, and hints of
green tea & lime this cleaner was welcome in our home. One of my favorite
surfaces to clean with this product is Noah’s high chair seat (I clean the
eating surface with the Puracy dish soap!), which never seems to be clean for
more than an hour because of our messy, chubby little man. I spray this on the
seat, wait 30 second and even stuck on banans/yogurt/beans/younameit comes off.
It has a mild scent that doesn’t linger. And it’s also streak free so I like to
use it in Noah’s room windows.
Some things that stand out to me about Puracy are that there
are no sulfates, triclosan, formaldehyde, parabens, phosphates, SLS, SLES, MEA,
DEA, TEA, petroleum-based ingredients, animal-derived ingredients, chlorine,
dyes, or caustics. It’s cruelty free, affordable, and available on Amazon.
